I kind of feel a little bit sorry for Jeb Bush. He was supposed to be the Good Son, the one who would succeed his father’s legacy, but to his misfortune (and the country’s) his drunk older brother sobered up, and, having been born on third, managed to steal a home run. Then, before Jeb had declared his candidacy, his own mother publicly stated that there had been “enough Bushes in the White House.” Finally, his own parents appear as honored guests at the first debate in which he didn’t appear. That’s seriously cold.

Jeb was supposed to be the favorite son. He was also supposed to be the smart son. Alas, that neither is evidently true.
