This is obviously a riff on the infamous Van Halen contract rider forbidding brown M&Ms in the green room, a crazy rock’n’roll story that happens to actually be true. But the real reason behind it is way more interesting than simply “David Lee Roth is a dick.” NPR has a great video of Roth himself explaining the rider. It’s 5 minutes but well worth the watch.
