New to “With the Band?” Go to the beginning of the most recent story arc here. You can also use the handy guitars at the bottom of the page to navigate to First, Previous, Next, or Last tracks, or go directly to the Marshall Stack Archive! We update every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Takamines are good guitars. I have one myself, and my favorite guitar ever is a 1993 Takamine Santa Fe (in fact, if you want to be my Sugar Daddy, a good first step would be snagging me one of those bad boys on ebay–I’ve played them, but I’ve never owned one). But honestly, I’m pretty tired of conservatives lecturing me on things like “buy American made” while they play Japanese guitars. Most of my guitars are Ovation or Line 6–both American-made guitars by American companies–and all my t-shirts are printed locally on American-made shirts. Obviously I can’t always buy American, but I do when I can afford to. What’s Toby Keith’s fucking excuse? He can’t afford a Gibson, or a Martin, or a Taylor?

Abscess Update: I’m getting the tooth extracted later today. I’ll be paying for it for years.
