If you were subjected to . . . I mean, watched–the February 25th CNN Republican debate, you got to experience some of the most embarrassing behavior from American politicians, ever. Apparently they’d negotiated a rule with CNN that if any candidate is attacked, addressed, or even mentioned by name or implication, he could immediately respond. This led to a LOT of whining from Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, who kept insisting they get to respond to every little slight or mention. To his credit, Donald the Trump didn’t invoke this rule often. Then again, he mostly just interrupted everyone, and the Wolf Pack at CNN pretty much just let him.

This also led to one of the most painful moments of the debate, if not the campaign: Ben Carson, who got to speak maybe three times the entire night, pathetically asking, “Can somebody attack me, please?” More pathetically, everyone shut up immediately, then resumed attacking each other a few seconds later.

I’m relieved he’s no longer in the race, because he would clearly have made a terrible president, but I kind of feel sorry for Ben Carson.
