To be fair, the way Jeb Bush, Bobby Jindal, and pretty much all of the Republican candidates define “anchor babies,” neither Jeb Bush’s children nor Bobby Jindal qualifies. They specifically mean the children of illegal immigrants, which isn’t the same thing. To also be fair, the Constitution doesn’t make the same distinction. “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the united States and of the State wherein they reside,” says the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. Yet, curiously, the same Republicans who scream for President Obama’s impeachment for using the same executive power most of his modern predecessors have used to help these “anchor babies”, are promising to ignore the Constitution in this regard. They’re even explicitly claiming that the 14th Amendment doesn’t say precisely what it says.
Hypocrisy means nothing to the modern Republican Party. Nor does shame.
