TRACK #100!!! It’s amazing to me that we’ve reached this milestone in the first year of “With the Band.”
Credit where it’s due: This is a joke I’ve sat on for a LONG time (you might be able to guess to which election this idea tracks), but others have done variations of it first. The earliest (to my knowledge) and still the best (in my opinion) was done by Jon Rosenberg, creator of “Goats.”
For the record, the incumbent Democratic senator up for re-election in 2014 in New Hampshire is not Dick Smegg, but rather the wonderful Jeanne Shaheen. However, it’s going to be a hard campaign in 2014, what with both an evil dark lord and Sauron in the race, so rather than drag Senator Shaheen through the cesspit of my imagination, I decided to do so to my fictional senator instead. Besides, I’ve always had a fond place in my heart for ol’ Dick Smegg . . .

Thank you everyone who has helped me in all my successes this year. I’m taking a couple of weeks off from regular strips, but keep checking it; there should be something new up for Withers every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, including, possibly, a guest strip! I’ll see you back here January 6th! Merry Christmas, Awesome Kwanzaa, and Happy New Year!
